Thursday Jan 26, 2023
Thursday Jan 26, 2023
Implicit bias is a form of bias that occurs automatically and unintentionally, that nevertheless affects judgments, decisions, and behaviors.
This educational session will introduce participants to implicit bias, where they come from, how they are formed, and explain how it differs from explicit bias. Participants will understand the impact of implicit bias on healthcare delivery and the harm it may cause their patients and clients. This session will utilize methods to help participants recognize bias and learn how to interrupt and mitigate the effects in their clinical spaces.
This course meets the 1 hour Implicit Bias training required by the State of Illinois. Since this is a virtual live webinar, this counts as "live" CE. The Implicit Bias Training Mandate for Health Care Workers was signed into Law in the summer of 2021. For license or registration renewals occurring on or after January 1, 2023, all health care professionals who hold a professional license (listed in Section 1130.500 Implicit Bias Awareness Training) shall complete a one-hour course in implicit bias awareness training per renewal period. A licensee may count this one hour for completion of this course towards meeting the minimum credit hours required for continuing education.
