As of January 1, 2023, Illinois licensed physical therapists may certify that a patient has a medical condition that meets the requirements for the state to issue a temporary or permanent disability placard. IPTA Executive Director, Colleen Flannery will walk through the forms, process, do and don'ts for certifying disability placards in Illinois.

- Determine if an individual applicant has at least one medical condition that qualifies them for a disability placard.
- Understand the several types of color-coded placards available and the differences between them.
- Understand the penalties for misuse of disability placards for both patients and providers.
- Understand the application process and be able to locate the forms online.
About the Speaker
Colleen Flannery, IPTA Executive Director, will present the information and provide time for participants to ask questions about implementing telehealth into practice. Colleen has served as both the executive director and a lobbyist for the association for the last 15 years and has helped negotiate key pieces of legislation for physical therapy including dry needling, direct access and now telehealth.
